Never did I thought that the experience gained from a diet of Balkan food since childhood would be so useful that I'd end up being in the acknowledgements for Isabel Stainsby's translation of The True Way Out, the Czech writer, journalist and musician Patrik Banga's memoir of growing up Roma in 1990s Czechia 🇨🇿.

To think that as a child I hated Balkan food. I was more a cheese sandwich on white bread-type of a child at first, but eventually I realised what my tastebuds were missing out on. There's been no turning back since then!
Goes to show how your life experience can be a valuable source of expertise for others.
